What is a play center? Playing ,it would seem, is what children do. Playing, in all its complex aspects of children ‘s development/growing, is a total experience, able to satisfy at the same time, the need to do, to learn and experiment, to deconstruct and to put back together reality, creatively modifying the order of things and of ideas, subverting words and discourses, fantastically reinterpreting experiences and relations.
The awareness of the educational and creative function of playing entails planning of the contexts of the life of children, among which ply centers, spaces for children to be together in the afternoon. Such planning means to design specific spaces, purposely intended and set to favor/ induce/to be conducive to free expression through playing.
